Confirmed Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, De Ligt & Martinez dropped in 4 big changes
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has made four changes to the starting line-up for today’s Premier League clash against Aston Villa on the road.
The Red Devils have had a poor start to the top-flight campaign with only seven points attained from six games. Today’s game appears a must-win in the top four race.
United are already six points behind the Champions League places and the gap could extend further if the club are unable to beat Unai Emery’s side at Villa Park.
Ten Hag’s future seems on the line too. Ahead of the game, the Dutchman has made some surprise changes from the 3-3 draw against Porto in the Europa League.
Andre Onana continues in goal as usual. Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot keep their places in the full-back positions, but there is an overhaul in the heart of the defence.
Both Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt have been dropped. The manager has gone with the experienced duo of Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans instead.
In midfield, Kobbie Mainoo has replaced Casemiro. Christian Eriksen keeps his place after two assists in the midweek draw. Manuel Ugarte stays on the bench.
Further forward, Alejandro Garnacho has replaced Amad Diallo on the right wing which was pretty much expected. The Argentine had eight shots in 49 minutes versus Porto.
Marcus Rashford was brilliant on Thursday with a goal and assist. The Englishman starts on the left wing with captain Bruno Fernandes continuing from the number 10 role.
Up front, Rasmus Hojlund makes his first Premier League start of the campaign. The Dane scored the second goal in midweek and has got the nod over Joshua Zirkzee.
