Manchester United hit stumbling block in managerial search as England FA make fresh Thomas Tuchel decision: Reports

Manchester United have reportedly hit a major roadblock in their search for a new manager as Thomas Tuchel is in advanced talks with England FA to become the country’s new manager. The German is tipped to replace the interim head coach Lee Carsley and succeed Gareth Southgate

The former Bayern Munich coach had a clause in his contract which says that he could leave the club as a free agent despite it running till 2025. Bayern will not receive any transfer fees if England do decide to appoint the German, reported reputed sports journalist Florian Plettenburg in a tweet.

Earlier, TBR had reported that the Red Devils are under immense pressure from their supporters to sack current manager Erik Ten Hag after a disastrous start to the new season, in which they have scored just five goals and conceded eight. They are ranked at a lowly 14th position in the table at the moment.

Although Ten Hag retained his job with Manchester United courtesy of winning the FA Cup final against Manchester City in May, INEOS, the co-owners of the club, are not too keen on continuing with the Dutchman. However, it is learnt that they will stick with him till the January transfer window at the very least.

Tuchel was sacked by Bayern in May earlier this year and is best known for his tactical astuteness. He was renowned for winning the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea by beating rivals Manchester City in the final in 2020-21. The 51-year-old is famous for the defensive solidity of his teams.
